Subway pulls live arrival data from the MTA's real-time feed and displays it by station and direction. Times update automatically.
Why are arrival times different from the MTA app?
All sources pull from the same MTA feed, but slight differences in when each app refreshes can cause small discrepancies. Subway updates automatically and shows the most recent data available.
What does "ARR" mean?
The train is arriving at the station now or within the next minute.
A train disappeared from the list before it arrived.
The MTA sometimes removes a train from the real-time feed before it reaches a station — usually because of rerouting, service changes, or data corrections upstream. This is an MTA data issue, not an app issue.
I don't see any nearby stations.
Make sure you've granted Subway location access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Nearby stations only appear when location is available and you're in or near New York City.
Can I use the app outside of New York?
Yes — you can search for and favorite any station from anywhere. Though the nearby section may not be useful outside the city.
Is the app free?
Yes. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.
